Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef, 80/20
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 4 slices of cheese (such as cheddar, American, or mozzarella)
- 4 hamburger buns
- Lettuce, tomato, and any other toppings you like
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat, and brush the grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Use your hands or a spoon to mix everything together until just combined - be careful not to overmix.
- Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each one into a ball. Then, flatten each ball into a patty.
- Place a slice of cheese in the center of each patty, then fold the beef over the cheese to form a ball again. Flatten the ball slightly into a patty shape, making sure the cheese is fully enclosed.
- Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until they're cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- While the burgers are cooking, toast the buns on the grill or in a toaster. You can also melt the butter on the buns for extra flavor.
- Once the burgers are done, assemble the burgers with your desired toppings and serve immediately.
- Let the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute and the cheese to set.
- Serve the burgers hot and enjoy the ooey-gooey cheese center - it's the perfect treat after a long day.
