Cheeseburger Casserole

A cheesy baked casserole with ground beef and pasta that tastes just like a cheeseburger, perfect for a weeknight dinner

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef, 80/20
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (115g) pasta of your choice
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup (115g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (55g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon (15g) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) olive oil
  • 1 cup (240ml) beef broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and cook the pasta according to the package instructions until it's al dente.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and add the diced onion. Cook until the onion is translucent and starting to brown.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Cook until the beef is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Drain the excess fat from the skillet and add the diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and dried oregano. Stir to combine.
  6. In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta, beef mixture, and shredded cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Transfer the pasta mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish and top with additional shredded cheese.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
